Why Dekton: the mechanisms

Heat. Dekton is made at temperatures no kitchen can reach, so a pan straight off the burner or a tray out of the oven sits on the surface without a trivet and without a mark.

Sun. The pigments are mineral and they were fixed during firing, which means UV has nothing to fade. Colour holds in a south-facing kitchen, on a patio, on a rooftop terrace. This is the property quartz cannot offer at any price.

Scratches and stains. The surface is harder than knife steel, and it absorbs essentially nothing, so wine, oil and lemon juice sit on top until wiped. No sealing, ever.

The honest trade-off. Hard is not the same as tough. A heavy pot swung into an edge or an unsupported corner can chip it, and the material forgives nothing during cutting and transport. Both risks live in the same place: fabrication.
